What if I told you that 40 per cent of all people under the age of 25 worldwide say they feel lonely, according to the World Economic Forum.
Or that the Australian Loneliness Report released last year found that more than half of all Australians feel lonely for at least two days of every week, and more than a fifth of us feel we never or rarely have someone to talk to or turn to for help.
For too many people, loneliness has become a way of life. And the fact is that these people live right here in Gympie, in your street. They go to your church. They work with you.
Esther spoke to us recently and shared part of her story,
“My husband left in June 2016, leaving me with a one-week old baby, a five year old daughter, a caesarean wound and with a big financial stress. He left two weeks after I lost my mother.”
It’s hard to fathom the depth of despair, loss and loneliness Esther felt at this point. But her life was transformed for eternity when she turned on the radio…
“My husband left me in a dark world but listening to Luke and Susie on the radio every day made my day brighter. The big old tummy laughs made me overcome aloneness, loneliness.
Listening to the radio makes everything in my life come alive.”
But here’s the thing… before that life-changing moment when Esther turned the radio on, someone like you gave a simple gift. Someone like you invested in a radio station that is passionately committed to delivering a message of hope.
That simple act of generosity was all it took for Esther to know that she is NEVER ALONE.
Why is this so important?
Because there are people across our community, like Esther, who are living desperately lonely lives. Some are trying to “treat” their loneliness by taking drugs or alcohol. Others are masking their loneliness with bravado. Still, others are simply running and hiding.
And this appeal is your opportunity to let people like this know that they are NEVER ALONE.
That’s why it’s so important.
So, how will you respond to this epidemic? Will you give your most generous gift to this crucial appeal, on behalf of those in our community who are desperately lonely?
Take the step right now by clicking the DONATE NOW button on this page.
Your partner in this work,
PS Your tax-deductible gift today will help people in Gympie and beyond know that they are NEVER ALONE during the months ahead. And remember, every donation over $2 is tax-deductible, even at this time of the year.
March is such an important month for 91.5 FM… and for you. Right now, you are needed to help people in Gympie know that they are NEVER ALONE.
For too many people, loneliness has become a way of life. And the fact is that some of these people live right here in Gympie, in your street. They go to your church. They work with you.
And that’s why, more than ever before, a voice of HOPE – a voice that says you’re NEVER ALONE – must be heard loud and clear in Gympie. 91.5 FM is that voice… but you are needed to help amplify that voice.
There are three ways that you can do that...
Option 1: You give your most generous gift, click on the 'donate now' button on this page.
Option 2: You volunteer to be locked up in the 91.5 FM Vault, located at the studios, on Friday 29th March, and you take up the challenge of raising a ransom of $365 (or more). You will text, use social media, call your friends and colleagues and urge them to donate towards your ransom and help you achieve your goal of $1 a day so that others will know that they are NEVER ALONE
Option 3: You take a “plea deal” and donate your $365 ransom so that you never get locked up in the first place.
This month could be monumental for 91.5 FM. With your help, this could be the month that generates the resources and momentum needed to amplify this VOICE OF HOPE in ways that cannot be imagined right now.
Will you join us and invest a small amount of your time and a slice of your influence to help people in Gympie know that they are NEVER ALONE?
